Memorial Eucharist for All Souls' Day

In the Church Calendar, November 2, the day after All Saints’ Day, is the Commemoration of All Faithful Departed (or All Souls). Whereas All Saints (which we will also observe the following Sunday, Nov. 7) is a celebratory day to remember and be encouraged by those great named saints who wear the victor’s crown, All Souls is a day for remembering that great unnumbered throng of all the faithful, most of them unremembered by history—but also including particularly those known and loved by us personally. Accordingly, it is a day on which some churches offer a memorial eucharist for all the departed, especially those who have died in the previous year, a tradition Holy Apostles will observe with a service at 6:30 pm.
