VERGER
The Verger's main duty is ceremonially to precede the religious participants as they move about the church. Additionally, Vergers often play a very prominent role "behind the scenes" — attending to the liturgical details so that the clergy can concentrate on their priestly duties to preach the Word and administer the Sacraments.
