CHILDREN'S ANNOUNCEMENTS (infant through grade 4)
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES
NURSERY (Infants through age 3)
Infants and toddlers up through three years old are cared for in one of our two professionally staffed nurseries. When parents sign their children into the nursery, they are given a pager. All our nursery workers have undergone extensive screening (including criminal background checks) and have completed the Safeguarding God’s Children training.
CHILDREN’S CHAPEL (ages 4 – K)
Children from four years old through kindergarten may attend Children’s Chapel during our 9:00 a.m. service. This chapel provides an age-appropriate experience of the day’s gospel lesson for our littlest members.
CHILDREN’S CHRISTIAN EDUCATION (PreK(4) – Grade 4)
Our elementary age children use Weaving God’s Promises. This curriculum was developed and written exclusively for the Episcopal Church. It’s titled Weaving God’s Promises after the process of faith formation in which we learn how God’s promises of salvation are inextricably woven into our lives. The goal of Weaving God’s Promises is to teach children the way of Christ, not only in the church but also in the world, and to give them a solid grounding for future youth formation programs, which in turn will prepare them for Christian adulthood.
Weaving God’s Promises provides children with basic knowledge of Church teachings in the three elements essential to the practice of our faith. Each is dependent on the other in order for the faith to stand firmly:
1.Christian education
2.Worship
3.Service
We have several wonderful teachers this year, many new to teaching at Holy Apostles. They are: Maggie Beason, Lisa Morris and Jennifer Parr who teach Prek(4) & Kindergarten, Taylor Beasley and Laura Beasley, who teach the 1st and 2nd Grade and Sally Barron and Teresa Davis , who teach the 3rd and 4th Grade.
COMMUNION CLASS
Anyone who’s baptized is welcome and encouraged to receive communion at Holy Apostles. This class, which meets occasionally, is designed to help children ages 3 through 10 have a basic understanding of what we believe and what we do in the Eucharist.
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL (PreK(4) – entering Grade 5)
For one week each summer, Holy Apostles is transformed into a new place where children can play, learn, and be excited about God. In the past children have participated in a game show, walked the rainforest, and flown in the air with hot air balloons.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We need many different types of volunteers for Children’s Formation, from teachers to support people. People are needed to help provide snacks on Sunday morning, organize our “busy bags,” teach in Children’s Chapel, and organize special events. Please contact Penny Goldberg if you can help.
