Rectors Forum today: Race in the Church. Our guest today will be Dr. Charles McKinney, Associate Professor (History) and Associate Director of the African American Studies Program at Rhodes College. Dr. McKinney is a widely published scholar and a much sought-after conference speaker.

Jr. & Sr. EYC tonight, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Pictionary! A meal will be provided. Friends are always welcome.

ECW Out to Dinner, Thursday, February 16th at 6:30 p.m. The group will meet at Frank Grisanti’s, in the Embassy Suites Hotel (1022 South Shady Grove Rd., Memphis). Please let Bonnie Barnes know if you plan to attend, so she can have an accurate count. (bonnie.barnes@musowls.org or 831-5029).

Saints Alive! Saturday, February 18th, 6:30 p.m. This month, we are invited into the Germantown home of Alice and Curtis Finn (2644 Meadow Run Drive). The hosts will provide paper products and soft drinks. Guests are asked to bring a heavy hors d'oeuvre or dessert and choice of beverage. Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Mardi Gras Parade, February 21st, 5:30 p.m. The evening will begin with a pancake and sausage dinner prepared by our Youth, followed by a Mardi Gras Parade. The children, on decorated bikes, trikes, wagons or strollers will toss Mardi Gras beads to parishioners lining the route. They will march into the Church to bury the Alleluias. The cost of supper is $5 per person, with a $15 maximum for families. All proceeds go towards the Youth Fund.

Schedule of Services for Ash Wednesday, February 22nd. Three liturgies will be offered on Ash Wednesday: 7:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m., and 6:30 p.m. Childcare will be provided at the 6:30 p.m. service.

Memphis Men’s Chorale in concert at Holy Apostles, Friday, February 24th, 7:30 p.m. The group is directed by Jeremy T. Warner. It’s repertoire includes a wide variety, from the traditional music of Vaughan Williams and Randall Thompson, to the “manly music” of sea shanties and soldier songs, to music of Otis Redding and The Beatles. Do you have some time to give Holy Apostles? The parish office would like to increase its volunteer pool for the following duties: 1) answer the phone and occasional general office work on Mondays and Wednesdays (about three hours); 2) help fold service leaflets on Friday mornings (about one hour); and 3) help fold, label, and sort newsletters on the 3rd (or 4th) Thursday of the month (about one to two hours). For each of these jobs you are only asked to volunteer about once per month . If you are able to help, please contact Holly at holly@holyapostlestn.net or Linda at linda@holyapostletn.net.
