ANNUAL PARISH MEETING
The Annual Parish Meeting was held on Sunday, January 24. At that time various reports were offered, the 2010 budget was presented, and Father John shared his vision for Holy Apostles for the year.
Highlights from the meeting are:
- Elected four Vestry members: Jenny Boals, Curtis Finn, Mac McCarroll and Jennifer Warrillow.
- Honored Phil Morris and Jean Morris as the recipients of the 2nd Annual Brian Pecon Ministry Award for Outstanding Service to the Mission and Ministry of Church of the Holy Apostles.
- Recognized the ministry of the outgoing Vestry members: Karen Blakley, George Kawell, Tom McCann and Paula Vaughan.
- Presented the 2010 Budget with a manageable deficit, anticipated to be balanced by additional pledges and contributions.

RECTOR’S FORUM
The Passion of Jesus
Father John will lead the discussion on The Passion of Jesus recounting three aspects of Jesus’ last days from the gospels. This extended look will prepare us for a meaningful Holy Week as we liturgically recall Jesus’ Passion.

March 14 The Passion of Jesus: Triumph
March 21 The Passion of Jesus: Betrayal
March 28 The Passion of Jesus: Suffering

LENTEN FOOD DRIVE

As we are prepare to go through our Lenten disciplines this year remember that Holy Apostles is gathering food for the Collierville Food Pantry. People are still struggling through this depressed economy and need supplies for daily living. Let us pass on our blessings to our neighbors by bringing goods each Sunday through Lent. Please make it you discipline this year to remember those in need. For more information contact Tasha Kawell.

WEDNESDAYS IN LENT

During the Lenten evening programs, the Men' Group will provide soup, salad, and bread with beverages. Three different soups will be offered each evening for $2.00 per person or $5.00 for a family. Programs begin at 6:45 p.m.

Adults can chose among three different offerings.

- Parenting Adolescents
- Prayer: The How and Why
Children’s Programs
Children in Pre(K)4 thru grade 4 will meet for an activity and conclude with a Children’s Compline. This year we will “give something back” by collecting items for the Memphis Union Mission (see below). The planned activities and items to bring are:

POPCORN THEOLOGY

Popcorn Theology will meet on Saturday, March 27 at 4:00 p.m. with the viewing of the Coen Brothers’ movie, The Big Lebowski. The movie is a black comedy centered on Jeffrey “Dude” Lebowski who is the ultimate L.A. slacker, until one day when his house is broken into and his rug is soiled by two angry gangsters who have mistaken him for Jeffrey Lebowski, the L.A. millionaire, whose wife owes some bad people some big money.
After the movie at 6:00 p.m. we will discuss the many theological issues raised in the movie including the Golden Rule and the possible existence of lamed-vavniks in society as mentioned in both The Talmud and in kabbalah. We’re pretty sure Madonna will show up so be there early.

EXPLORER'S CLASS
On Sunday, February 28, we are beginning an Explorer’s Class for all those who are seeking to learn more about the Episcopal Church, Holy Apostles, and the Christian life. The Rector will be leading this class one evening a week for seven weeks. At the conclusion of the classes, you may wish to join the Episcopal Church formally through Confirmation. Others may use this opportunity to learn more about the church, the life of faith, and deepen their relationship with God while not desiring Confirmation. Nursery is available. The class meets 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Please email John Leach to register for this class.

SERENDIPITY SUPPER

The first Wednesday of each month we have an old-fashioned potluck supper at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Life Center. Bring a covered dish or a dessert and enjoy the fellowship and the serendipity of the bountiful meal. For more information, contact John Wasilik.
ORGANIST SEARCH COMMITTEE
The following members have agreed to serve on the Organist Search Committee: Guy See, Robyn Sharp, Lisa Klesges, Ken Balogh, Cary Barnes, Tom Carpenter and Diane Reddoch. The Search committee will meet with candidates and offer advice to the rector in the selection of the next organist/choirmaster. The process will follow normative guidelines of such a search including respecting the confidentiality of the process. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Fr. John.
