Sundays at 10:10 am in April
Sunday, April 7th
We will finish up our five week series on Lenten Bible Study with table groups. In this series, Fr. John Leach has been utilizing the biblical texts from the lectionary readings during Lent to introduce alternative Bible Study approaches for our spiritual growth. Each table will learn, share, and discuss the selected texts with others as we do this work together.
Sunday, April 14th and Sunday, April 21st
We will celebrate Palm Sunday and Easter and, as such, there will be no Rector’s Forum between the two morning services on these days.
Sunday, April 28th
Following Easter, parishioner Tom Carpenter will start a three-week series on the early Christian church post-resurrection. We will be discussing the stories that the New Testament authors told about the resurrection of Jesus and the importance to the early church and for us today.
This series will include:
- a discussion of the emergence of apocalyptic thinking and theology prior to Jesus’ life and ministry, including Jewish resistance to Roman occupation
- what it means to first-century Jews when Jesus declares that “the kingdom of God has come near”,
- an examination of the four Gospel accounts regarding the resurrection of Jesus, particularly the role of women in these accounts, and, how the early church understood bodily resurrection and was able to imagine living differently as a result of their experience of the risen Christ.
