Parishioner Tom Carpenter will finish his presentation on the early Christian church post-resurrection. We will be discussing the stories that the New Testament authors told about the resurrection of Jesus and the importance to the early church and for us today.
- the emergence of apocalyptic thinking and theology prior to Jesus’ life and ministry, including Jewish resistance to Roman occupation
- what it means to first-century Jews when Jesus declares that “the kingdom of God has come near”,
- an examination of the four Gospel accounts regarding the resurrection of Jesus, particularly the role of women in these accounts, and, how the early church understood bodily resurrection and was able to imagine living differently as a result of their experience of the risen Christ.
Rector’s Forum will take a break during the summer months and resume in September.
